Project 365: Days 11-2o

I don't remember exactly why I took up photography, which is a bit disturbing since it was only a year ago. I think maybe all the beautiful photos on Tumblr and Flickr inspired me, coloring my otherwise drab days working as a corporate peon. I'm sure editing copy for two years (plus overtime) sucked out whatever desire I had to create my own stories. Maybe I just needed a hobby. Whatever the reason, it's been quite the learning experience.

I don't know if it's obvious to the reader as it is to me, but my people pictures definitely need work. There are very few people shots I love -- and it's not because of anything the model did wrong. Besides the bad editing and blah composition, I still haven't learned how to connect with the subject. It's one thing to take pictures of a miniature figurine or an orange, but people... People are tough. People get tired of you taking the same shots 123 times. People need direction. People have noses and things like that cause shadows.

People are... tough.
